Are there people out there who just want a hack?

i bought my horse purly to hack and maybe the odd days hunting...
i only did more on her as she showed ability once her back and saddle were sorted... that's the only reason i took up comps - but i still only hack every day i'm not competing - not got an arena anyway so have no choice!!

Stands up in the room and says "I am a happy hacker".

My horse doesn't jump much. He hates the indoor school (gets bored easily) - we got asked to leave the last dressage training session and I am injured.

So, we happily hack about, taking the dogs with us and go for a potter, the odd canter, and generally do our schooling (if any) out and about.

It is nothing to be ashamed of. I refuse to feel I am a lesser person or rider because I don't go round in endless circles. My horse is happy. I am happy. We are both achieving what we set out to do and that is SMILE! :)

Yes, me; I've long since got past the stage of haring around at a great rate of knots, looking like a Plains Indian half the time...I prefer to admire the scenery these days! Never been into competitions; I think I'm probably the least competitive person on the planet. Probably sound really boring but I have 3 friends of a very similar age who also "just" hack. All our horses seem quite happy with that, as it gives them more time and energy for important things like eating, rolling and mutual grooming.

I love hacking, just me and a horse, looking at nature - sounds soft, but true. I'm really looking forward to being able to hack the boy more as he gets older. But I don't think I'd ever manage 4.30 am !!!

There is something very mentally calming about just being out and about hacking.

Hack and hunt and if I can be persuaded I might do some hunter trials and team chases (but not on my TB). Don't see the point in doing anything else!!

I am a happy hacker....myself and Ted just potter about...dont have the balls to do anything else plus ted cant do much more due to his collateral ligament old injury anyway...

Well I'm just a happy hacker and always have been: I don't care if I'm a total disgrace to the horse world, I'm lucky enough to keep mine at home, and can just saddle up whenever I like, plus the dogs, and go out for a scavenge!

I hate being watched, so avoid competitions. Tho' we might have a go at Le Trec one day as that seems to be as laid back as it gets, and we've done a few Fun Rides.
