Looking through the ad websites, I stumbled across this ad.

Gumtree advert

The description is terrifyingly bad and the price, even more concerning. The picture seems to show a quite sweet (if a litlle overweight) looking pony
"can be ridden once a week" Does this mean she goes on strike the rest of the time? Would love to hear people's thoughts on this.

I used to say that about Beau - basically you could ride him once a week and he wouldn't be fizzy from not being ridden. He was of course unfit.

Now he NEEDS to be ridden about 5 times a week or he is a little [****]

Looks incredibly dodgy to me. I would probably have read the 'once a week' thing as could be ridden once a week and not mind - as in won't be fizzy if not ridden more regularly.

Is very worrying.

Tempted to ring and ask for more details!

I never really thought about the "once a week" comment like that.
I just think it's this sort of ad that encourages horses into the wrong hands. It makes horse owning look like a walk in the park

I expect the price is a typo and is meant to read £2,500. Pony sounds very genuine from that advert; sounds like you can do almost anything with it and it doesn't get upset or bothered. I personally can't see much wrong with the advert but then I am used to looking at quirky adverts.

that horse is from Bombproof, they have changed their name and started a new website called Crack On - stumbled across it the other day.

if you click on a bomproof link it goes to lazy plods which is them as well.

Oh and its called Fresco on their website and is priced at £3,200

Definely a worry then, I've heard bad things about them and know someone who had REAL problems with them.

hmmm something doesn't add up here. 99% sure "Frescoe" and "sara" are the same picture, but "frescoe seems to have changed sex!

eeeek, yes looks the same, same stables in background, same write up about the pony... definitely dodgy... not just.. ahem.. quirky!

Using the same words in an advert to describe more than one horse is not dodgy if those animals are similar in character. Using the same photo for 2 "different" horses is dodgy, but it still doesn't mean that the horse itself is dodgy, it may be a love.

Oh their rep will catch up with them - the horse world is too small for any dodgy dealer to get away with it for too long.

same photo, different name, different sex, different price. If the horse was genuine, there would be no need for misleading ads.

I disagree. The people who wrote the adverts may be dodgy but that does not mean that the horse is (doesn't mean it isn't either though). I have bought wonderful horses from people who are complete dopes on a rope. I have also bought horses from people who are quite clearly lying about how long they have had horse and fib about what they have or haven't done with the horse. I don't buy duff horses - but I will buy horses off duff people. But then I don't put much stock in an advert and not much of anything that a seller has to tell me.

wel... the plot thickens.
I emailed Bombproof saying...
"Hi can you please tell me if you are based at the same place as Crack On.co.uk? I am a bit confused as to your where abouts."
and they came back saying..
"No but they are only 3 miles away. If you want to visit we can give directions over the phone."

but both websites are exactly the same format, wording, base, pictures etc. ooooh I feel like Sherlock Holmes!

haha just went on the "testimonials" to see if anyone has said a decent word about them and it made me chuckle (obviously haven't got testimonials)

anywho you little investigators let us know what happens!

im confused, lazyplods is a website that i thought was the same company as bombproof and they do have some horse for sale the same as the sister website, havent paid attention to whether descriptions are the same, i did notice recently that lazyplods comes up for both sites now though which i thought was strange, seems there is no bombproof site now?

i cant find the crack on.co.uk one tho, can someone put a link up? is it the same as lazyplods/bombproof?
