I know we're not supposed to advertise horses on here, but are we allowed to say if we know someone's looking for something specific, especially if it's not going to be easy to find?

Im sure that would be ok. There are a lot of posters on here who like to do a bit of horse hunting for others.

Good luck with the search.

Ok - here goes.

One of the girls on my yard lost her horse 4 weeks ago. He'd had a tough life and she gave him 6 lovely years at the end, but his coffin joints gradually got worse. She tried everything, but to no avail so...

She's looking for another, but really hasn't much money to buy. However, when she has them, they want for nothing, her box is immaculate and I would say they are the first thing she thinks of in the morning and the last thing at night. I look after her horse in the morning Monday to Friday as she has to be at work for about 5am! The yard we are at has 24/7 turnout if you wish all year, good boxes, a school and 100 acres to ride in, plus bridle paths off the farm.

Her ideal (not easy, before you say anything!) would be TB type, good to hack alone and in company, not scatty, 16hh/ish mare or gelding and not too old, as she doesn't want to go through the heartache again too quickly. (I know there are no guarantees with horses, but I get her point).

We're near Banbury, so anything within say 45 mins to 1hr.

Any thoughts, please PM me and I'll pass it along. Thankies!!

Hi,

If she likes TBs and does not have much money, has she considered an ex-racer from a charity such as heros?

I think they let some out on long term loan - they ask for a charitable donation - I've just had a quick look at their website and think this one looks lovely... :D

They are Oxfordshire so not too far away from you.

Good luck!

Hi ncarter,

Yes, the YO is trying to get her to look there too, but the two pronged approach is always a good one! (if that doesn't sound too rude:D)

I do hope she finds a nice neddie, as I know he/she will live in the lap of luxury!

WOW - just looked at their loan agreement - very in depth and guaranteed to put off any timewaster's but perfect for the sort of loaner you want for your horse - they really care about where their horses are going - I wish I had known about this site before we loaned.
