Area 22 Horse Trials?

Goodness, that's not good. I know clubs always moan about running the area's as the scoring is difficult. But even so, surely a couple of clubs could group together (like they did once before?) so run it. Seems very unfair to not have it up here!

Yeah it's not running at all this year - more due to lack of volunteers to help run than difficulties with scoring etc. Horse trials just needs so many more volunteers than DR and SJ! However an email went round Findon a wee while ago asking if people would be prepared to volunteer/enter next year, looking at potentially hosting for 2014... so hopefully it will be back next year. I believe this year Area 22 can compete at another Area Horse Trials (can't remember if it was area 1 or 2) if they are wanting to qualify for the champs though.

No Clubs volunteered to run the horse trials this year. Trying to find a suitable venue, along with helpers, stabling and all the other ( very expensive) costs makes it an unattractive prospect. That's before you add all the whinging from the competitors and team managers about the slightest thing. Remember folks, it's all run by volunteers giving up their time!

You don't need to tell me about organising stuff! I am very well aware and didn't think I was whinging with my post. So far this current month for my local RC, I have organised three training clinics and as well as running/organsing a forthcoming arena event plus in the evening, our RC is hosting a demo by the horses inside out HIO team which I will be helping at.

It is always the same clubs that step forward at area and I know it is a lot of work. Horse trials is particularly difficult. Currently, our committee is not at full strength, no new blood want on to help, and the rest of us still have to find the time to work full time, sort our own horses etc.... so sometimes running an area horse trials event is not possible, even if we had the right sort of venue locally (which we don't anymore).

Jnhuk - was not referring to your post at all, just making a general statement to those who think it's a simple thing to put together!
For my sins I'm running an area comp this year. Again. Will I never learn? ;-)
