So dreaded dressage was on saturday, the area dressage dengie. it had that HORRIBLE dressage test in it, with 2 10m half circles with simple changes over X.

Wasnt feeling very hopeful, since riding on friday I couldnt actually get left canter from trot let alone walk

turns out why we have such difficulty in getting walk to canter on left rein is that he throws his right hind out, partly due to the way i ride and partly due to him saving it.

lots of work needed there

Warm up was ok, just concentrated on getting him to bend and trot to canter on left rein, with some very nice walk to canters on the right rein.
The actual test rode quite nicely, shame about the half circle simple change
crazy.gif

I even remembered it all - There were very few people who remembered all their test!! my hands are awful, so his head was moving and we got 5's for the half circles which was about right
blush.gif
but most of other marks were normal, 6/7/8s were the range. the little sh*t shook his head numerous times in the free walk - i was swearing under my breath
mad.gif

Ended up on 61.29% which i was very pleased with, as i was expecting very low 50%!! even better it was good enough to come 10th
grin.gif
the winner was on 67% so we will get there eventually lol! rossettes went down to 10th so happy days

then on way home from dressage we decided that we would go jumping (in dressage tack
tongue.gif
) at the arena eventing
tongue.gif
We arrived just as it finished, but very very very nice owners said we could jump it (we use the arena a lot in the winter) so learnt course and jumped
laugh.gif

was fantastic course, lots of interesting fences and merlin was fab
laugh.gif
he didnt look at any of the scary fillers/skinnies/giant water trays/pipes/bank/drop, and gave such a good jump over a park bench!

then today i had my B test stable management! I passed
cool.gif
i was a very good pass they said

then hacked horse after B test, and on way home YO bet me £20 that i wouldnt jump the hedge into my garden. Couldnt pass up that bet, so decided to jump it - merlin couldnt understand what i wanted to do
tongue.gif
but then worked it out and jumped it beautifully
grin.gif
had to a quick turn though as our garden consists of an orchard
blush.gif

dad wasnt the best pleased - he had just mown lawn
crazy.gif
but he didnt think that i could do it either
wink.gif
lol

cookies and cream for those who got this far!

Well done!! Sounds like a fab w/e!

What sort of stuff did ou get asked in the B test - I have mine in April, doing it ALL in one day...the pass rate for that is 30% - uh oh!!

Sounds like a great weekend, glad the dressage went better than you thought it would
smile.gif

Well done for jumping the hedge!! Can imagine what your Dad thought, my Dad would've been furious if i'd have jumped my pony into the garden!!!!
smile.gif
:)

thanks
laugh.gif
will try and get pics of the hedge
tongue.gif
YO should have known better - i have sooo wanted to jump that hedge ever since i got merlin
tongue.gif

We used to do B test all in one day, but since very few people ride in winter it makes more sense to do riding in summer and stable managment in the winter
tongue.gif

We were asked qu like what do you think of this stable/tack room/feed room etc. asked to explain feeds and name/shame them, tell them what type of hay it was what grasses were in it, what kind of straw etc.
then conformation, (that was hell as examiner was a vet
tongue.gif
) and 1st aid, where curbs/splints where etc. what is a whorl, identify farriers tools and say how they are used, identify differnet types of shoes and what they are used for
bangaging, bits, rugging, fittness plans, how do deal with cuts, how to poultice etc.
tongue.gif

it started at 11am and finished at 3pm!!

Both of ours was today - I thought they were always on the same day - I chickened out of that lovely dressage test!

Sounds like you made a very good job of it though.

Good Luck for next week then and look forward to seeing you report.

nah we have far too many people to do ours on the same day; at the area dressage there was about 50 people.

At the showjumping next week, there will be app. 120 juniors (under 12s), 90-100 seniors (thats the normal 1m dengie) and app.30 in the open 1.10m section.

the 1.10m last year finished at 11.30pm last year... and the whole day started at 9am

it was a good weekend; i realised that you lot were right, i was fixating on one movement
laugh.gif

grin.gif

dad was egging me on, he didnt believe i would do it
tongue.gif

That's ridiculous - people say there are that many at ours but I never bother going. It's always seemed silly to me that it's on the same day for those that qualify for both.
