area dengie showjumping yesterday, i had qualiified for the senior dengie which is 1m. not too late start, rolled out of the yard at 11am in the lorry with smart merlin and his nice white (not helped by talcum powder at all
) socks and painted black hooves. harldy any desiel in the lorry, so head to the petrol station, but when we get there the pumps were out of order so we had to turn out again. literally 20 yards down the road we broke down - out of deseil!!!
so then we tried to get some, but the tank went below the level so all the dirt got into it, so we sat on the main road for 2 hours whilst the men who kindly offered to help tried to bleed the lorry, got a new filter and lorry still not working
so then get towed to friends yard and then get a trailer to bring us to the comp. bloodly horses wouldnt load
so after 30mins they finally go on and we set off, and arrive at the comp at 3pm where we just make the course walk! as i was 13th to go it was quite a hurry, so got on quickly and relaxed in the warm-up as there was a few in front of me.
so in i go, and to honest i felt that some of the fences were tiny
but he was really good and was clearing everything by miles
and we finished clear with no time penalities, so put him away and learnt the jump off. came in again for the jump off, and he went up another gear himself and he was really wanting to jump! so we tried out some turns and took a stride out in the related distance and we kept up the rhytmn the whole way round. sadly the nippy little ponies beat us, but we didnt mind as we knew that we wernt going to win
decided to enter the 1.10m, and walked the course and it was bloody HUGE! was sooo nervous so warmed up and he felt quite dead in the warm up,so that got me even more worried, but went in and he changed and he wanted to go! so i just concentrated on the course. fences 1-3 were good, and he was having fun, and then no.4 was a treble bar to 5 and upright and 6 a upright which was on a circle with 4 strides between each. he over jumped the treble bar by miles!!!!! he jumped me out of the saddle and somehow i stayed on and jumped the rest of the course clear!!
he was having soooo much fun - he dosent actually have to make much of an effort over fences because he has such a strange way of jumping
plus i was told that i rode really well in both classes so me is very happy
decided in the jump off that i would just go for clear, and i did
he was fantastic
so then got placed 5th overall
i was just thrilled to go double clear
heres a piccy from the 1.10 class! cc welcome!
