Arena costs?

We are considering having an arena put in at home - dad can do all groundwork but i was just wondering what sorts of costs other peoples arenas cost - matrerials? fencing? etc?

I'm guessing a 20m x 40m? You'll need stone for the drainage, drainage pipes, membranes, surface of your choice, possibly hire of machnery and fencing. VAT has gone up to 20% and the cost of fuel is phenomenal - the cost of transporting materials such as stone and sand is often more than the cost of the materials themselves. So I'm guessing £18-£20k.

Can vary....massively!!!
But you can get DIY kits for fencing and membranes etc

My OH has just done a menage, without all his labour and using of machinery just the stone for drainage, drainage + soakaway, membranes, fencing and all other materials, this didn't include the top surface. That came to about £8k and I think all in it was £15k but this didn't include the top surface.

I was thinking about putting one in but realistically I cannot see the benefit of spending nearing £20k for an area to ride my horse unfortunately

I think you'll find that the £15k quoted is from 2008!
