Hi guys! Absoloutely dreading the thought of winter at the moment 😭 cold, dark days with little daylight to ride in....brrrrr!! These are the days I wish for an indoor arena! So that got me thinking, is there any cheap way to light an arena? The one I use is only 20x30 so probably wouldn't need too many lights? I was thinking something along the lines of outdoor sensor lights? Does anyone have any experience of cost effectively lighting? Thanks in advance! ☺️

We have a 20 by 40 m school and have 5 worklights - http://www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-400W-Telescopic-Worklight/p/702860 - that run off a generator. Probably not good enough to jump in but definitely good enough for flat work. We intend to change the bulbs this year to make them brighter. It did mean my OH putting wiring and plug sockets round the school but it didn't cost much.

My husband put up LED floodlights for my birthday last year :). They were about £50 each and work well. There is not enough light to jump but ok for schooling. Just be aware of your planning permission and whether you are allowed lights.

Depending on the horse you can get away with a couple of lights. Obviously not for jumping but to keep them ticking over. B&Q do plug in work lights which kick out an enormous amount of light. If you don't have electricity you could think about solar lights.
