Arena sand

Hey all
Sorry I very rarely post on here but do use it as a great source of information.
I was wondering if anyone could tell me if they have had success using sand in an arena (will be in combination with fibre) that's NOT silica sand?

We did this and it saved us a fortune. The arena was put down by a professional company so it was laid down properly before the Flexiride was put on top. It rides brilliantly, but does have a lot of weeds in it which I presume have come from the sand. Hope this helps.
