Further to my other post (which now cannot find!) we are looking to build our own arena. Anyone experience of best / cheapest place to get supplies eg surface, membrane etc. we are in herts. have friend who can do the work. Will only be used by one horse about 4 times week so can't warrant spending fortune! Thank u
 
Flexitime from Equestrian Direct is a good top layer on silica sand. It works well in a low use arena once it has settled (needs rain once installed.) You can also buy the sand from ED and they have different membranes for sale.

I would try and ride on an arena with the surface you are planning on using. It's also worth looking at arenas with the same surface on you tube so you can see how it functions at other times of the year.
