Does anyone have an arena with AndrewsBowen surface improver on it? Would you recommend it, and if so how much roughly did it cost for a 20x40?

I'm trying to make a Passada surface (plastic with coarse sand) more stable and springy for an older horse. Does anyone have any recommendations? I've looked at Clopf but they say it must be kept watered and I can't do that.

Thanks for any help you can give.

a local yard to me, i used to livery there, had Clopf - they don't water it as far as I'm aware - it gets watered when it rains - but it is the nicest surface i have ridden on, i wold seriously rate it!

I would recommend looking at the synthetic chop. I looked at Flexiride but found a much cheaper but the same alternative in Valley Equestrian surface from Bolton. I used 90% synthetic and then added 70 tonnes of crag sand but I know you can use it to improve a sand surface in smaller quantities. If you google them you should find them I think the proprietor is called Mark. PM me if you can't locate them. I was recommended them by someone on here and my new Manege is absolutely fabulous I couldn't be more chuffed with it. I have 3,horses that need a good giving but supportive surface and this has more than fitted the bill it also doesn't need harrowing as it barely moves.

Yas&crystal would the surface you used improve a sand and rubber arena. My surface can ride a bit deep in the summer when it is dry. Thanks

If its the andrewsbowen that's advertised in horse and hound this week then it looks the same as the arena fibre we've got but at about treble the price!
If it is the fibre one then I really rate it and my trainers just had it installed in her new arena after seeing how well ours faired through all seasons and being impressed with it.
In summer if it's a long dry spell it does mean can't harrow as often as just drags round the top rather than mix back in like when the sands damp but still rideable and not deep at all.

I was just about to put a question up about an arena with builders sand, I would like to improve it for our liveries with out breaking the bank, it is not wet, and no nasty puddles, it is drained too. Its just flat to ride on, also a bit heavy. many thanks

OP the surface I bought was called Synergy50 from Valley Equestrian, however googling Valley equestrian now they seem to be selling a fibrous stabilising product. The contact details I have are

I have put flexiride on my exisiting sand and found this was the most cost effective when looking through the market. They are really friendly to talk to and have alot of people where you can go and visit people who already have the surface so can see it for yourslef which i found really helpful.
