I have pp for a sand school! good start, but with the dry summers of recent years and wind in recent days im starting to wonder if wood fiber might be a better option? only in that i guess it would not ride as deep as sand in the summer n less would be blown about in the wind? Any thoughts please x

Its going to be 20 x 40 i have 1 large horse that would be using it another semi retired n a small ish pony. not a busy livery yard or any thing like that, really not wanting rubber coz of pp. not to worried about freezing etc as if i had to ride out or not use for a couple of days it would not be the end of the world, will be mostly used for flat work and a bit of jumping x

I personally am not a fan of woodchip- can get stuck in shoes/ feet and poke alot when you fall on it! Sand can rightly be a pain in dry conditions and a pain in the wind but if it is laid correctly and correctly maintained (raking and watering) is should ride nicely all year round.

To be honest i am sure once the school is constructed anyway noone would be fussed too much as to what surface it has on it (re rubber & pp requirements!) Have you considered any of the other recycleable materials that are available such as the material fibres and different types of mixed sand/ fibre combinations?
