So not bad enough that I have had to suddenly retire my boy and will be horseless for a year until I save for a new one but the insurance company are trying to split the claim into two because the lameness workup showed more than one issue. 2x £500 excesses, I could cry, scream and any other expression of utter frustration.

Fight them on it!
If it presented as one lameness the. You should pay 1 excess.

My lads lameness work up showed up arthritis of the spine and a still as yet undiagnosed stifle issue. It all came under 1 claim and one excess

Insurance companies just try it on, knowing that many people will give up easily.

Fight it.

It doesn't take a lot of time to do it by letter. Try sending the letters "signed for"... costs perhaps fifty pence more, but inconveniences the person it's addressed to much more than fifty pence's worth of time in a company.
