I think, I already no the answer but am hoping that someone has a bright idea and totally surprises me!:D

I bought a new saddle for my daughters pony as the old one was tatty and not a great fit now he has toned up.

Bought a wintec on Ebay which came today. All is fine but there are no D rings!

Big problem is, pony has recently learnt that, if he puts his head right down when she asks to trot, she has to come back to walk and, therefore, he gets out of doing anything. She isn't capable of keeping him going yet.:rolleyes:

Is there anyway I can stop him doing this without the use of the D rings? She has camp coming up so need something we can use there.

HELP!:confused::confused:

Well, it's is a bit Heath Robinson, but this is what I used to do.

Tack pony up.

Take a slim lead rope or length of baler cord :eek: (yes, it's basic)

Put lead rop through both bit rings and clip on the ring furthest away.

Bring the lead rope over and across the pony's neck (so that the loose end of rope is on the same side of the pony as the lead rope clip but it has to cross the neck to work)

Now find something to tie it to :D you can tie it in a quick release knot to the strap on the numnah that attaches to the girth or the girth strap itself.

Don't tie it to the stirrup leather though:eek:

It needs to be loose enough for the pony to move freely but tight enough so that he cannot get his head down.

It works really well but I'm not too sure what the DC will make of it!

Was just going to say that due to the lay of the winged stirrup bars you could fashion something to fix to them, but I see Shires have thought of it before me :D

I had some like that on the school ponies and so tied the cord to the stirrup bar - used a thin nylon cord to a plastic clip that if anything disastrous should happen the clip would break. Worked very well and easy to put on and off.
