Old yard owner used to let horses live out 365 days a year. When he died his wife and her sister took our yard over, the repairs have been much better etc so up til now everything has been fine.
One of the girls told me that YO's sister wants horses brought in over night from 1st December

We'll find out at the weekend when too but am slightly worried as Fudge has never been stabled over night but pony wouldn't mind.
I wouldn't mind but the weather has been great, our ground is good and we still have plenty of grass so why shut the fields? What I'm most annoyed with though is that I spoke to them about this last week and they assured me that I would be able to turn out 24/7 all winter

Will have to consider moving if it's going to be for more than a couple of months as my horse and pony are only in light work and I think turnout is the most important thing horses should have, which would be a shame as I've been happy at this yard for ten years.

I'm really upset that the YO's have changed their minds especially when I really don't see that there is any need to shut the fields until the weather starts getting bad. Am also a little worried that we might have to catch in by a certain time as the earliest i can be at the yard on a weeke day is 7pm and I can't really afford to pay someone to catch in etc

Ok rant over

Oh dear what a night mare. Have you stressed the fact that they assured you that your horses could stay out??? Bit un-fair that they have gone back on their words. Also if they do have to come in then i think you should ask for a bit of give and take with the times you have to get in. I wouldnt let them push you around to much if things are changing since the YO husband passed away when they were never like it before.

Good luck hope you figure something out!

Mine had optional 24 hour all year turnout until I moved yards. This will be my second winter with overnight stabling. It is MUCH more work and of course times are dictated by the needs of the horses - i also like mine to be turned out at the same time as the others to reduce stress, which means early mornings after working late shifts at work.

In our case it is dictated by a need to not poach the fields, and i respect that - but i do miss the regime I had before

I would wait to see what the YO has to say rather than worry too much about information you got second hand. If they do want all the horses in you can discuss your circumstances with them and take it from there.
