At least fifty percent of the people who've rung up about Lily don't actually turn up. Is this normal or am I just attracting a particular class of nutter with my advert?

I've also had one person turn up a whole day early and two others ring and say could they come immediately? Erm, no, its half six and I've just ridden, fed and put her back in the field. Who rings about a horse at half six and assumes they'll be able to see it that evening?

I do, if its nearby. Couldn't you go back and ride her again?

Selling horses is awful, but at least you are getting some interest. The right people will come along sooner or later. :)

I did let the first people that asked to come that evening but she was a bit flat to ride. She just didn't sparkle and show herself at her best.

All i can say is although people say horses are not selling i sold a horse late this summer and could have sold him 10 times over deliberated over who i sold him to mainly because of all the talk about a bad market, even posted on here about potential buyers was told just sell him.

I decided to be very selective and found him a smashing home in my opinion people who are desperate to view straight away at short notice usually dont buy it is only polite to give enough time to arrange a viewing we all have jobs family etc and i am sure if the horse behaved in a different manner once they bought it would be your fault. It is often used as a way of calming a horse down to ride it first just politely say horse has been excersised you want them to see horse in true light if they are really interested they will understand.

I really think if you are honest in your ad and honest when people view you will find a perfect partner just dont stress about it enjoy your horse while you can and when you dont expect it a really nice person will come along and buy your horse and one more thing good luck.:)

you will get alot of people who ring and then let you down and some that just ring and come and have a free ride (sunday outings normally) that have no intention of buying. then you get the ones that have a budget say £1000 as example and will go look at horses that are up for £1800 and will put a cheeky offer in. you do get people that call and are willing to come straight away, in my experience never turn down a viewing as you never know if they are the one that would have bought your horse in the end, if you have already ridden then tell them when they call. if they still want to come then take them up. and if they arrange another day make sure your free and not rode. unfortunately it doesnt always follow through with a sale but that happens to everyone selling a horse at one time or another. my advice would also be if someone comes to view and brings a horse box there and then, dont let them take your horse. if they are seriously interested they will come a few times to make sure it is the right horse for them. the last thing as a horse owner that you would want is someone to but your horse after 1 viewing and once its at there home they think it is not suitable and sell it on.
i hope that is useful and good luck in selling x
