Barnacles has been doing really well, we have been working on his on lead behaviour around other dogs, he can now sit and watch me while other dogs pass (although he is still mostly growling but it's progress)... today he was brilliant, he sat, he watched me and he didn't growl and then the dog that was passing came racing over and threw itself onto Barneys back end at which point he spun round and tried to grab the other dog, snappng and snarling :( I don't blame him, I'd probably have done the same but ARGH, why can't people keep control of their dogs?!!!! I got the usual, 'it's ok, she's friendly' speech, argghhh! The very first time he has really behaved himself he ends up getting launched at, the rest of the walk he completely reverted, a months work undone in a few seconds :(

Not expecting any replies, just feel the need to rant!! :p

On the upside he has lost over 1kg so at least he looks good when he's hanging off the end of the lead! :D

Butter wouldn't melt

You should have replied "no, he's NOT friendly he's rude and one day he'll do that to the wrong dog and get his head ripped off!"

I bet they wouldn't have let him approach and do that to say a GSD or a Rottie!!

This is one of my standard lines now.

That is so true, I was so busy trying to calm Barney down and was so angry at him (owner) I couldn't say anything... it was a little cairn terrier which really will get injured one day, not sure what Barney would have done if he'd managed to latch on to it :( Gah!

Zak is that 'wrong' dog, looks very sweet (the one with the trainer in my sig), will try to kill other dogs, especially ones that fly at him. I'm afraid the other dog would have had my size 8 up it's arse and the owner would have had a thorough telling off. Basic etiquette is do not let your off lead dog approach an on lead dog. I'm ruddy sick of other owners without the brain to realise this.
