Well after a weekend of tears and upset D is off to sales livery in the new year and in the meantime my l lovely friend is schooling/hacking him out for me to get him fit and because she loves him :).

Anyway I know I shouldn't of but I couldn't stop myself having a little look around for a new horse. I can just about afford to pay for D's sales livery and livery for a new one along with my shettie although I will have to beg my husband to lend me the money to buy a new one if I find something before D sells.

So there I was on preloved found a lovely sounding horse and thought I'd contact the seller. Turns out this is the horse I have posted about previously when I was trying to get hubby to let me have a second. He was sold by my friend so I know he is genuine and perfect for what I need right now. He is on for over a grand more that what he was originally sold for so I assumed he was now coming with new saddle and bridle as they had only owned him for two months but daughter was not interested. Turns out this is the price for just him on his own.

I am so annoyed because he is perfect but I cannot justify buying him for so much more when he is now off work and out in a field getting fat. My friend who sold him could not believe it when I told her. I am so annoyed!! He is perfect and I know there would be plenty of others that will be perfect to but I kind of feel like its fate bringing him back to me again!

Anyway rant over!

It's a buyers market - offer what you can afford then let fate take a hand....

If it is being 'sold from field' the likelihood is no one else will want to pay a huge amount either.

Horses are going for peanuts at the moment.

You know the horse be cheeky offer what you want. No harm asking, I offered what I thought was worth for one I love, they accepted (after turning down someone who had offered more) because they want a good home for him.

If yours is stuck in a field chances are they want shot, don't want to pay anymore for him. Offer full price with tack. Be cheeky.

I know, thanks guys. I have a maximum figure I want to pay for him which would leave me enough money to buy a decent saddle and bridle once D is sold. I am sure one of my friends has a bride I could borrow and I could ride bareback as he is so quiet until I have the pennies to buy a new saddle! I am waiting to hear back from my last email to her and then will make my cheeky offer.

If she accepts hubby will go mad! He is quite a way away so getting him home won't be cheap.

How annoying! Poor you. :( we have enough room for another one but don't really want anymore as worried about the fields getting destroyed with all this rain and they are just about coping at the moment. But as my other horse will be gone in the middle of jan it should be fine. X

Just made an offer but don't think they will accept. I offered £300 more than what they bought him for about 3months ago but £850 less than they want for him. I think it will be a no tho. :(

How about explaining you know the horse and know what he sold for so if they could explain/ justify why he is now at a higher price .... has he affiliated? grown? or got gold plated shoes? and see what they say ;)

Good luck :D

I would state that the offer you have made will remain there for them to take up at any time, within reason, if they go a month or two with no more interest they may well change their mind and get back to you. There is no way that he will be going up in value especially if not in work, he will still be costing them something each month, it may just take a while for them to realise that they are going to lose some money.

I did say I knew the horse and my friend had sold him to them. I stated in my email that I knew he sold for x and therefore was only offering x and that if she didn't want to accept the offer it would remain there to take in case she changed her mind after a month or two. I am in no hurry to find a new horse but had to try and get him just in case it was meant to be!

Thanks for the advice guys :)

As said previously just wait your time now. They have your firm offer so may well come back to you if he doesn't sell as quickly as they would perhaps like. Fingers crossed for you

She said that she loved having him around so if she didn't get that price for him she would just keep him anyway. But you never know
