My welshy has a bit of a tendency to get porky this time of year, so I fenced off a bit of the field with electrotape, which he is very respectful of, in fact will not go anywhere near it, however he has figured out that he can jump it!! He is ridden by his part-loaner 4 times a week, and not fed any hard feed, but is still too fat. Can't use a grazing muzzle because he gets blisters on his mouth, and can't keep him in because he gets so wound up when no-one else is in that he loses condition at an alarming rate, and thats not how I want him to be, besides the fact that if he's kept in like that he's then toally unrideable. Any ideas would be great??

thanks for the suggestion, but they are already the biggest ones I can find. they are almost level with his back, but if i hide in the hedge so he cant see me (thinks ive gone) then i can watch him launch himself over it! amazing to watch but incredibly scary cos I dont want him to get his legs tangled.

where is he juming out to? a field next door with more grass? could you top it if that was the case?

I know the feeling, I share F and my life is taken over (in a good way) in summer to keep him working hard and minimise the fat, but the bugger is still eyeing up next door's lush grass!

We had this problem and made the posts almost double height by putting two posts together with plastic tie wraps, overlap the posts by about a third then use about 3 ties on each one to hold stable.

Only needed to put another strand of tape around the very top and our mare didn't even try to jump it - 16hh TB.

Maybe fencing the next field might help.He might not like jumping into a small space of 2 or 3 ft wide.
