arghhh Gosling cup :o any tips for the tack and turnout ?

hi, were doing gosling cup on sunday and for those of you who dont know what this is its a pony club team event for pony clubs in east anglia, it consists of a very anal tack and turnout and a one day event. the tack turn out is so silly you have to moistureize your horses chesnuts and clean there feet and put bags on them overnight and fill holes in tack with candle wax :L anyway has anyone got any tips for how to make tack or ponies or riders look cleaner and shinier ?? thankyou

My PC hasn't ever taken part, but I've seen lots of stuff about it as I'm in that sort of area. It does look like if you make a real effort, make sure you sew your plaits in and that your tack (including stirrups and bits- stick them in the dishwasher!) and horse (inside ears, under hooves, sheath...) is as spotless as you can make it, and you're turned out well (undersides of boots, polished badge, clean shirt, tie and jacket which match your team (all in blue, or all in white) then you'll be fine.

Matching quarter marks would look good, you could do something unique for your PC.
If you are on similar sized horses try to get things like the same number of plaits and make sure their tails are as equal length as possible.
