Earlier this morning I was sat in the garden with my pooch playing with her beloved ball, the sun was out and we were having a nice little play together.

THEN

Some gigantic furry beast appeared at my fence (7ft high - thank god) and started to go mental. Betsy obviously joined in - she loves other dogs but obviously not ones that are trying to get into her garden to eat her. I managed to shut B up and waited for an owner to turn up (10 mins or so). NO fecking owner turns up and the dog starts to try and DIG under my fence.

I went out of the garden and grabbed said dog by the collar (amazed he was wearing one) and took dog down to the roadside to see if I could spot an owner. There was a man holding a lead chatting to another bloke at the other end of the street. He made his way over to me when he saw me with his dog.

I (very politely:o) told him what had happened and he went on to tell me if my bitch was in season she shouldnt be in the garden because she obviously wound his dog up. I pointed out that my bitch was spayed so that was a load of tosh. He said that made no difference and his dog was simply doing what was natural to him and considering he is a WOLF his instincts are very strong.

The dog was clearly a GSD x Husky.

Angry pregnant lauren came out to play. I told him in no uncertain terms if I found his dog hanging round my garden again I would put it straight in the car and to the pound, that both him and the dog have too much testosterone kicking around and at least one of them could do with having balls removed. I also recommended attaching the dog to the lead he was carrying to save it terorising young pregnant women or ending up under a car.

I am clearly still fuming:mad: I'm not really bothered by the dog barking at the fence, gave me an excuse to practice our 'leave' command. I am bothered that the poor dog was left completely out of sight for such a long time by a fairly busy road (especially considering the screeching I did:o) and it has caused some damage to a couple of my fence panels. Topped off with the 'it's your own fault' attitude of the idiot... it was enough to make me craaaazy!

Luckily for me the dog was quite friendly:o

No real point to this other than to vent!

Snigger!

People are just dumb. Walking on Saturday- so there is me and some friends 6 dogs in total- 4 of which are Staff's or their crosses- so we are aware not all folk like them and we try to be curteous.

Walking down narrow path- see an off lead Lab, all of us move to one side to allow lab and owner to pass- owner stops dead - doing something on her phone- totally oblivious- eventually it is too much for Dex and another of our group who start playing up - owner still oblivious, stood doing eff all- eventually she passes whilst giving us disapproving looks- grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

What an eejit!! With a breed like a husky cross, he should NEVER have his dog off lead on or near a road. Huskies and husky crosses pretty well always have a huge prey drive, and will give chase to anything that gets up - a cat, a pheasant, anything worth pursuing - and would run straight across a road if needs be without a by your leave, however obedient they may be. They go deaf when in hunting mode!

In addition, even if the husky/GSD cross also has some wolf blood in him, this will not make him more or less likely to pursue a bitch in season. Any entire male worth his salt will relentlessly pursue a bitch on heat, and it is up to his owner, if he wishes to keep his dog entire, to keep him on a lead on or near the road. Equally, some responsibility lies with the owner of a bitch in season also, but you say that your bitch has been spayed therefore this does not apply. In any case, she was in her own garden, where she is more than entitled to be, whether in full heat or not!! What a rude moron. My boys - both the castrated one, and the uncastrated - are very interested in bitches in season, and we will immediately leash them if they start to show interest in a bitch who clearly is on heat.

Lexie- had a panic then when read first line about lab thought you were maybe on about mine but no that was not him! For a start 6 dogs he would be petrified! Ha ha he doesn't do large groups!

Sometimes, I really do despair of dog owners, but then reading your post has made me smile. Bet the last thing that ignorant owner was expecting was being told his fortune by a female!!!! Well done you.

I was so angry... I can be a snappy cow at the best of times but this bloke just didnt care where his dog was and tried to make me believe it was all my own fault.

It does make me giggle when I think about what I must have looked like... 5'1, in PJs and 6 months pregnant holding onto a furry beast that was just about the same size as me.

PS I always like asking Big Time Charlie types how much they paid for their 'rare'/'unusual'/'special' (so rare, usual and special they didn't take the time to train it) dogs, that's usually a good conversation-stopper.

Haha CC I thought of so many things to say once he walked away. The baby seems to make me forgetful as well as angry!

Just been to see MiL and mentioned my little encounter and was told I was irresponsible and could have been 'savaged'
