my friend hu is 13 shall b called m. M has a horse at a riding school intill now i thought she couldnt afford to keep her at livery fair enough. Now M tells me that the reason is so she doesnt have to do any of the work and just turn up ride and go and for other people to ride it eg me. This person then said i wud rather go out everyweek getting drunk and with my friends rather than seeing the horse. The M goes on and says its good as i dont have to work for my horse to be good otherr people do that for me.

Im thinking why bother even having a horse if your not going to do the work yourselve as the work you put in is what you are going to get from it.

Sorry im ranting abit i have another rant in commonroom aswell lol

And very soon she will have got bored and horse will be sold.. End of story. Seen it loads of times b4.

Dont worry about people like this, believe me they come and they go. Enjoy your own time with horses.

yeh typical teenager syndrome - loads like that at my last yard. I agree with you, I think it is odd. Still if the horse is well, then theoretically she's not doing anything wrong and I guess its her decision. Some people are more horse riders than owners as they say.

At least she has it on the riding school.

There are a couple of girls who have their horses on DIY at the yard where I keep my horse. They ride a maximum of 2 a week and usually for about 15 mins. They turn up 3 or 4 times a week to muck out (parents do it the rest of the time) and all this when WE HAVE NO TURN OUT. A lot of us more 'regular' people also end up feeding and generally caring for their horse.

It makes me furious when I come down to a note that reads 'HI XXX, could you muck out xxx for me and give him his haynet as I'm watching the boys play football tonight' thanks darling mwhah' . Having a horse seems to be a status symbol to them which is part of the reason they won't put their horse on working livery. IMO it is just plain lazy and cruel.

The younger girls at my yard are pretty good about taking responsibility for their horses. However, they all seem to think that on Saturday and Sunday their horses like to have a lie-in and late breakfast (like they do) and roll up to see them at midday. Mind you a alot of the adults are like that too!
