Fed up to the max!!
Does anybody have those friends who are always like "oh dont be silly, theres nothing wrong with your horse shes putting it on" Blah Blah...... ??

Well i do. And its really starting to make me maaddd
Basically, because i cant drive and the days are now getting darker quicker, my friends have offered to look after Lady for me on the days when i cant get there.
Ive noticed a problem with Lady, i think her back is sore. About a month ago i went to mount but she wouldnt stand next to the mounting block while i tried to get on, kept moving away. I just put it down to not wanting to be ridden as it had been a while, but was still a little worried. 2 weeks later i went to ride again, but bareback incase it was the saddle causing discomfort. She seemed worse. I went to get on and she was moving forwards, sideways, but then seemed fine and stood nicely and was fine after that (i only walked as i didnt have bridle or anything on, just sat there while she ate some grass) So i thought either something wrong with her back, being a little stroppy or something else? So i thought id leave it till after holiday, try one more time and if shes the same then ill need to get some help.
Well i got back from holiday last night so today i went to the field to see her groomed etc and decided to get on bareback. Before i got on i felt about her back and she kept walking forwards/wouldnt stand still/bit fidgetty. Decided to see what she would be like if i tried to mount, but she wouldnt have any of it. wouldnt stand next to the mounting block, so i got some steps and put them next to her, when i stood on them she was move away and look at me with those eyes as if to say "please dont mummy, it hurts....." :(so i let her go. Friends were asking what was wrong, and i said i think theres something wrong with her back as shes done it a few times before. So one friend (who is doing some sort of animal course at college) had a feel about her back, pressed, prodded and put alot of pressue to see how she would react. She kept walking away from her and wouldnt stand still, put her ears back a few times but seemed to be paying more attention to me making her dinner! But friend was saying "she would show discomfort if she had a sore back whether you were making food or not!"

I need your help :( Should i get a back person out? Ill have to pay for it myself and i dont exactly have loads of money i only have a little part time job 2 days a week. Any reccommendations of someone local to oxfordshire?? someone who doesnt cost the earth but is reliable? And is there anything i can do in the meantime to help or just wait to hear what the back person says?

Thanks x

Go with your gut!! Even if you are wrong at least you will know and you won't be happy until you have it checked. Also check saddle

I knew something was wrong with my last horse, YO and experienced instructor said he is just not going forward. I was right they were wrong!! So trust yourself you know the mare better than anyone

Agree with OP if you have feeling something isnt right-get someone proffesional out to your horse!
And yes- ive had a few friends who thought they knew my horses better than I did! and one pony who ducked out while jumping, spooked at everything on a hack, had issues with been tied up on the yard-everyone said hes taking the mick, slap him kick him etc. turned out he was blind in one eye and going slightly blind in his good eye. He was in late teens so went into early retirement and because I got him checked by the right person managed to keep his sight in his good eye! :)
