Today I brought home my Ariat steel toe Heritage boots and Classic chaps to clean in anticipation of getting back in the saddle (Ive had an ankle op). Ive had them for 5/6 years and they have served me well and I have completly abused them at times but have always looked good after a spruce up!

Unfortunatly I think age is getting the better of them as the sole of the boot has started to peel away from the leather slightly and I have had to glue them. The tops of the toes are really scuffed although cover up well but the deep scuffs are getting the better of them now. Other than the fact the suede inner calf area has gone really shiny the chaps still look good, but the elastic tread/stirrup is wearing where it sits against the square edges of the boot heel and is over half way through on both feet.

So I think in reality it is time to start considering their replacements. I have looked at buying like for like but to get the same boot seems impossible, and the classic chaps have been updated and Im not sure I like the look of new classic III chaps. I need a lace up boot as they support my ankles better than the zip ones and I dont think I really need a steel toe anymore etc etc...But Im finding it difficult to find anything that isnt going to bust the bank and meets my requirements.

Then I found the H2O Bromonts!! If I got the un insulated ones they will come in alot cheaper than boots and chaps and seem to be what Im looking for but in a tall boot.

Im just wanting to know if any one on here has a pair and what are your thoughts. Im assuming that the laces are just for show or can you actually adjust the fit of the ankle? Are they as supportive as boots and chaps?

Im prepared for the good bad and ugly opinions of this boot please

Oooh I love mine. I have the insulated ones- fab for winter and fine for summer too. The laces are actually elastic- you can't adjust them but they are supportive. They are very flexible and really allow a good feel. I'm on my second year with mine and they still look smart after I've scraped the mud off and given them a clean.

I'll definately be getting another pair when the time comes.

I have the non-insulated version and do like them. I keep mine for shows only tho. You are right about the laces they do not adjust! I also found that they came up quite big shoe wise. They are nice to ride in, very similar to all the other ariats! I also have the grasmeres and some short boots and chaps and TBH prefer riding in both of those rather than the bromonts. I find the nromonts suppportive but a bit restricting IMO.

The long boots are really good and the insulated ones are warmer.

I have the short version which I wear with Ariat close contact chaps - lots of warmth, good footbed for my awkward painful feet, waterproof, and with the chaps they look as good as a long boot and I find the ankle is supported.

The Bromonts are fab...and have led to an obsession with Ariat boots and subsequent purchase of the Grassmere!

The only boots I have ever bought which needed no wearing in at all. They are so comfortable and perfectly supportive. I have the insulated ones which are lovely.

I abuse mine endlessley and have mucked out and trundled around muddy fields in them...and they still polish up for competitions perfectly every time.

Another Bromont fan here - seriously comfortable, need no wearing in and the insulated ones are so, so warm. Never had cold feet once all winter!
