Ariat or tredstep??

I need some new chaps and really like the look of the Ariat classic chaps as i have ariat short boots....but wondered do they come up small as i have a large calf!!??

Tredstep deluxe looks quite nice too but have herd they come up small???

Ariat do a really good range of calf sizes

I have Ariat and Tredstep (ariat are leather with suede on inner leg, look v.smart) and the Tredstep are suede, they are just used about the ayrd.
 
well ive just measured my old ones and they are 15'' even though they are supposed to be 41cm (16'') and they fit fine..but my calf is 16-16 1/2!!!!
I need to order online so dont have the chance to try on either!!?!!
Im confuzzled with what size to get pppfffttt!!

Hellooo! I have same calf size as yours and have Ariat size L. Had them fitted at the tack shop and thought I would never get the damn things on, but as the shop assistant said they need to be a tight fit at the beginning as they stretch and give with wear which they have done.

Ariat also do different lengths so make sure you get the right length. Too long and they will dig in the back of your knees when riding and too short and they will drop a bit and look even shorter. XL would have prob fitted in the beginning but to be honest would have fallen down after a while once they had stretched a bit. I have the waxed close contact chaps. make sure you measure with jods on too!

Hiya!! Thanks for the info....my leg measurment from the floor to back of knee is 17'' ...so do you think LS might be the right size??

OK as I am in a good mood today!!

Just got my chaps out, dug out a measuring tape!!! I have measured round the widest part and they are 16" (don't forget though they have a big elastic part where the zip is so stretch a fair bit) length measurement at the back, zip is 15". Had a look at the code inside and they are actually LS, which to be honest I think is a bit short. I have measured my leg from heel to back of knee and same as yours 17" BUT don't forget the chaps start around the top of your Achillies tendon as they scoop up at the back, does that make sense?? I could do with about an extra inch longer on mine. Also, though, they do have a slight curve up on the outside, making them look like you have long boots on, so this makes the whole length measurement 16 1/4" not including the elastic!!

If this makes no sense at all let me know and I will try to re explain or go to a tack shop that sells them to get the right fit!!!!

I will order the LS and if they dont fit i will shave a portion of my leg off so they do!!

I have Ariat boots and when I went to buy chaps I did originally want the Ariat label!
Tredstep have gone up market though, and they have a lot of models to choose from. I bought a lovely pair of Tredteps in a lovely soft chocolate coloured leather. I had to get ones that do up at the side as I found the ones with zips at the back were either way too small or too big.
