My Ariat Volants arrived today and wow are they tall! These were to replace my Bromonts which were a regular fit (medium height and reg width as dont think they did such variety of sizes back then), so I ordered the same again and they're too high and very slim!! I can zip them up JUST in socks but may have to buy some breeches with the tight-type lower leg to fit! Have been wearing them about the house (painfully) as you do to try and wear them in, but I'm wondering how much they will realistically drop by since they're not all leather? Anyone have any experience with these? I'm considering heel risers...

Can't return them as they have none in my size left as they were on sale and were such a bargain (and I love the look of them) I WILL make them fit!

Yes, they should. My first air took a few wears to drop but they became the comfiest boots I've ever owned. The calf also stretched off.

I'm waiting on my new pair arriving - the calf is going to be to tight so I'm prepared for a couple of weeks of pain!

Yes they give slightly and drop slightly. I used heel raisers at first and wore the boots with the thickest socks I could manage. Now they fit perfectly and are by far the comfiest long riding boot I've ever owned

Oh brilliant, I didnt think the calf would stretch so that would be very handy! Gives me a reason to finally try and lose some weight too ;) They're so tall I can no way ride in them until they drop so it'll be a case of wearing them round the house for a while. The things we go through! Do they last a while? Only plan to use them for competing, my Bromonts have lasted about 6 years! They still look good and are still 100% waterproof (so handy for events up here...) but I'm just a bit bored of them. Will keep them for showing though, dont think the showing world is ready for red zips yet...

My first pair have lasted 4 years of hard wear - I've ridden, done yard work, went through muddy fields, walked dogs and lived in them for 3 years while I lived on a yard. They don't look brand new but still look good and have worn brilliantly bar a bit of stitching that is coming away slightly at the foot and one dodgy popper fastening which Ariat are replacing for me.

Phew - I'm glad to hear this too. I have a pair arriving tomorrow, and when I looked at the sizing chart, the regular where about 2cm too short, and the long 1cm too long, but gambled on the long, in the hope that they'd drop slightly. :-)

Got mine on Xmas eve. Had the same worries as you but have since worn them round the house for about an hour each day and they fit much better. Trying to go up and down the stairs for the first few days was hilarious.......

Ha ha, I've been doing lunges in front of the TV... not very pretty with my jeans rolled up and them on!

I've had mine for about 14 months and they still look like new. I only ride in them though, no yard work or mud as they're too nice for that and my wellies would be out of a job

Mine have arrived too :-)

They're lovely, they're a bit long, but I've put the heel raisers in, and will keep walking around in them, I'm sure they've dropped a little already :-)
