Ariat Volants - fit

Got my new boots which were ordered online so I haven't had the chance to try different widths. They fit really well on the ankle and calf, but there is a bit of a gap at the top, coming up to my knee - I can get my hand in there. Will this get more close fitting as they drop, or should I look at getting a smaller calf size? There seems to be a fair bit of stretch in the calves of them.

My daughter has a pair and there is no gap. They are designed to fit the calf snugly. She always has the narrowest calf width though.

Nicest boots she has ever had!

Same for my friend, she got the smaller size, they were snug but they drop and loosen a bit with wear.

Thanks, I think I must be a funny shape! Will think about exchanging for the smaller size....
