Does anyone have these in the wide or the full fitting and what are your thoughts on the fitting?

My calves at the widest point are approaching 16in so I don't know if these are going to be any good?

I can't help on the wide/ full fitting question, but I have a pair and they are fab. very very comfortable. The first time I wore mine was for a flatwork lesson and I didn't even notice I had new boots on.

I generally get my boots in a wide fit, but found with the bromonts I was a normal calf. However they don't come in a shorter leg length so I find mine (regular length) too uncomfortable to wear even with heel risers. Generally the length length seems longer than with other boots I have had.

I thought the fittings were pretty average for the normal size, can't comment on the wide. They are fabulous boots and I haven't known any better.

Only thing I would say is that the non-insulated version is very, very warm - they were fine all last winter - you may not need the insulated version!

I'd say the wide ones would be absolutely fine for calves that measure 15 inches, 16 and I think you would struggle.... so it depends what you mean when you say 'nearly 16 inches'!

Not sure about the width but I love my Bromonts. If they don't come up wide enough it may be worth trying the Coniston which I also have and love just as much but are lace up fronts which would give you a bit more room

15 1/2 inch calf, I am going to try some at our local saddles but as I can save £50 ordering from the web they wont benefit if they fit....

I'm sure my calves are about 16 inches as wellies are a tight squeeze, I have the wide fit and they are a good fit. Fab boots, have non insulated but aiming for getting the insulated ones at some point in the future!

You wont know unless you try some on.
My calves are 16 relaxed and 15 when I poke toe up a tiny bit so foot is in position it is when riding.

ETA-if you are also cursed with wide feet like me,try the mens on

Just have a bit more room and it makes a huge difference ot the comfort

Oh dear I think I might be about to rain on several parades here.

Until 12.40 today I had a pair - at 12.40 today I popped them into the post back to SMD Group in Oxford (UK distributors) as I have since I bought them in February had to return the first pair as the zip split in two in one boot. The replacement pair I have had to have a press stud replaced on one boot and the tab where the stud is restitched back into the other boot. Whilst taken them off on Sunday, the tab on the zip (the thing you pull the zip up with) broke. I only wear them for riding I don't do yard jobs in them.

The quality of the leather is fantastic and from day one the fit was perfect

it's just a shame that these niggly little problems have occurred - I was thinking about buying the insulated pair in chocolate for winter wear but the zip going at the weekend was the last straw. Hopefully Ariat will replace them, they have been very good at responding to my complaint email but I may have lost a bit of confidence in the product.

Edited to say that the size chart you see on websites who sell them is the size of the boot NOT the size of the leg that the boot will take.

I would say if you take a Wide fitting in Mountain Horse boots the Ariats won't go anywhere near you. If you're a standard fitting in MH you MAY need the Full fitting, I'd definitely try some on before buying.
PS I bought mine from Karasel Equine for £120 incl P&P!
