We are actually really concerned about the poor boy.
He’s really active and always looses weight over summer, not a massive eater and is out wandering from about 6am til dark usually. Calling in and out but mostly out.
Yesterday he didn’t get up when I did, sometimes he doesn’t. Then Mr P lets him out when he gets up a bit later.
So I thought nothing of it.
We then realised yesterday evening he has been in all day, normally trying to keep him in is impossible and very noisy with the yowling to get out.
So that was odd, he also looked a bit strange and wasn’t wanting to eat, even tried the dogs butchers tinned stuff which he loves.
This morning he did go out but was just hunched up on the wall, we got him back in as the hunt are here and I thought if he’s not 100% he might not get out of the way in time.
He’s just sat, oddly, like when a horse stands tucked up and in pain.
When the dogs approach him he does nothing, normally he will have a little play.

I’ve just called the vet and they said I can take him now and wait or there is an apt at 11.30, she said if I go now it may well still mean waiting til 11.30 as they are flat out (unless of course he gets worse between now and then)
So I’ve taken the appointment because he’s rather be here sleeping than in a cage in a busy waiting room for potentially hours.
I’m terrified it’s his kidneys. He has bad teeth and was going to get them cleaned, we have just kept putting it off waiting for that easy day where one of us was free to take and collect without too much hassle 😥
I’m not sure how bad, but I was told in spring when I took him for jabs they needed doing.
Of course it could be absolutely anything I guess.

He has a very high temperature and I have a sore arm where he showed his objection of having a thermometer up his butt.
We don’t know why, there’s no obvious injury his tummy is soft and comfortable, he isn’t dehydrated.
The ideal would have been for him to stay in, run bloods and give fluids, however it’s unmanned over the weekend, one vet calls In every few hours but due to his “temperamental issues” *my arm!! She said that probably wasn’t the best idea, as they need a few people to handle him and treat him.
So he has had an anti inflammatory jab and hopefully that will bring his temp down and perhaps make him feel well enough to eat.
We will review in 24 hours. If he’s still rough he will go to a 24 hr animal hospital and get the bloods and stuff done sedated - they will have a team to deal with him (anyone would think he is a tiger 😂)
If he has perked up he will go back to my own vet on Monday for a check over.
His teeth, she said are not at all bad, he would benefit from a dental at some point but it’s not urgent and not the cause of this problem, that was a huge relief!
So hopefully he will start to chirp up in the next few hours.

Ouch! They can be monsters can’t they!
Arlo has never ever got his claws out, he used to be a big biter when he was young but today was a bit of a shock!
I’m really hoping when the jab wears off he’s ok. I’m not a fan of the vet hospital place having been with a dog to pts in the night and they made me pay a vastly over inflated fee before they would even look at him. Made me so angry, sort the poor dog out first. Just felt money grabbing.

My teeny, tiny fluffy cat has the reputation of a sabre tooth tiger after two in-patient stints last year. Your poor arm!

Hopefully he's just picked up a virus or something minor and is feeling rough.

Madam Carrie Cat sends feline love and support to your Kitty Arlo. I'm sending mine, too.
When King Kevin Kat had to be pts, earlier this year, I was shouted at by the clerical staff to "Come back! You haven't paid your bill!".
I didn't go back (I'd been a patient-provider to them for 40+ years and had never not paid my bill in full. I sent a strongly-worded email to the practice Director saying, among other things, that their admin team might have some compassion for a client who had just lost their cat in shocking circumstances.
I never got a reply and I didn't rush to finalise the bill payment.

It’s awful isn’t it. My actual vets are great. They have signs up everywhere saying every bill is to be paid before leaving in all situations etc, however when I had to take Doug for the last time they carried him to the car for me and refused to let me back in to pay, saying I could settle up when I was feeling a bit better and there was no hurry.
They also sent me a card to say sorry.
The fact you never as a reply to your very justified complaint is terrible

We have been back to the vets today. Saw a different vet, today was my usual one who I’ve seen for years.
Yesterday Arlo had been quite sick but appeared to brighten up after, he was sick a few more times early morning but then went outside for a bit so definitely improving.
When trying to do the dreaded temperature taking the vet found a really painful area by his tail. He said that pain reaction coupled with the way he’s presented points towards a bite, we can’t find anything and apparently they would normally clip and have a proper look but he would have needed some serious sedation and due to the fact he is getting better not worse we opted for a course of antibiotics instead to review in 3/4 days time.
Poor old Arls, again the reaction was one of a raging tiger, he’s now curled up asleep in Bertie’s crate.
Hopefully he will be back to his normal self soon.

I would have expected the first vet to be able to find the abscess, tbh. It's good that Arlo is improving, though.
The second can’t actually find anything either. It was when he lifted his tail to take the temperature the reaction that the first vet took as difficult about taking his temp the second vet said was a definite pain response and so investigated further.
He’s still not right, he has been out for a couple of hours now but has slept a lot today again. He’s eating a bit more and drinking. I have just found some more cat sick in the shed on my yard which wasn’t there earlier.
I’m going to go out and look for him if he’s not home soon as I feel like this isn’t his kind of weather so am a bit worried he has just gone to sleep somewhere else.

I can still see this ending with a GA or at least good sedation to be honest to investigate properly.

He does seem a lot better now. He is staying inside a lot but with the weather we have had he often would anyway.
He’s definitely eating a bit more.
I tried last night to see any injury, I couldn’t, although he was far more obliging than he has been he didn’t want the area touched so still nothing obvious but he’s now definitely improving. 🎉
