Hiya - went to try and find myself a new smart jacket today - i'm looking for a blue tweed - so I can use it for low level dressage as well as showing- tried on some Caldene, Pikeur, Tagg and Mears ones (i liked the mears best!) BUT - my arms seem to be exceptionally long!- the lady in the shop (won't mention names!) told me that i had arms the length of an octopus which i didnt find very flattering! The 36" fitted really nicely in the body but the arms were about 6cm above my wrist!

Has anyone got any suggestions please? 1- where to find a blue tweed jacket? (in Hampshire!- i think i need to try them on!) and 2 - what to do about my arms (except the option of surgically shortening them which also went through my mind as i tried the hundredth 3/4 sleeved jacket on today!)

I'm kicking myself now - i should have just bought the one at olympia! (can't remember the name of the shop or what make it was! oops!)

Cheers, x

Haha, I'm afraid some people are so tactless! I have really chunky upper arms (from riding etc) and struggle to find jackets with arms that arent size 0. Luckily I have a long torso, so I can get away with a larger size. Try different styles and manufacturers, they do vary wildly.

If its any help Mears do a made to measure service, I've had my Mears for donkeys now, but I can defo remember being measured up in the shop & choosing the buttons & stuff. Good luck, by the way I'm sure the person who served you in the shop was perfect in every way, aren't they always?? Like the one who told me I had short legs, no s*** sherlock as I'm 5'1"!!

Alexander James also do jackets to fit, but any good quality make will have quite a lot of material turned under the cuff so could be lengthened by at least an inch.

Have a feel of the cuff and how it's sewn up as most are only held by a few stitches for this reason

all the ones I had looked at were fully lined with the lining sewn in to the turned in material! I do have very long arms (just measured mine against mums!)

so i think it would need to be more than an inch! x
