Just to let people who aren't becoming obsessed with the weather forecast and not watching TV that the Army is now on stand-by in Kent for weather related problems.

Saw a couple of posts earlier of people with really bad weather problems and lack of water on Farms etc so if you are in trouble then consider give the council a call on a non emergency number.
You never know some rather gorgeous army lads might pop by to help you out!

Keep safe and warm everyone! x

EDIT: If your not in Kent still maybe give the Fire service a call if your really really REALLY stuck for water as someone clever suggested earlier

Obviously a non emergency number!

I will tell my freind - she has a "thing" about army lads!!! they will be held hostage!!!!

lol at you lot!

I have to laugh at the moment though. My OH who is in the Army left for Norway Sunday night for 6-8 weeks of cold weather training. They ultimately could have just stayed in England and experienced the required conditions considering current weather especially up north!!

Im in kent and we've got about 10cm

I know maidstones got about a foot or snow but thats not bad compared to scotland and up north ..

My hubby has been out all day working for KCC as part of the emergency help team.He normally works for the Environment agency lol.He spent the day taking nurses to their homes and in to work and collecting emergency medical supplies. He said the roads were really bad in places and his Landrover defender was struggling to get through with snow about 2'6 deep in places on the roads.

Actually - I'm just being lazy, I can lug the water meself!

Hope the Army are out helping peeps that really need it.

My Dad has spent the last 3 days driving District Nurses round the lanes of E Sussex in his 4X4. He's retired, so is really enjoying helping out, reading his paper somewhere other then indoors on his own, and testing his 'wheels', shovel and bags of sharp sand!!!!!

I've already been sent down to Homebase for MY bags of sharp sand (£1.50 a bag!) gives tremendous grip on ice, or so says Dad!

So now I'm carrying my bag of sharp sand AND the shovel, blanket, food and drink in my 4x4. I am my fathers' daughter, as he keeps saying !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Im also very near you lot in maidstone and hucking - sucks doesnt it.

Rdiding feels like a distant memory and i just hope i can get to the yard today - i have been managing twice a day so far eveyday so have done well.

One of our taps is still working but the y/o lives on site so we will go knocking on the door if need be lol.

It sounds as if north of Maidstone is a bit worse than the south west which is where I am. I've had to walk to the yard a couple of times because some of the roads/hills to get over the Medway have been too icy.

I'm in Kent, (Medway/Gravesend area) and its been drizzling all morning and beginning to melt. Hurrah!!

At least for now anyway
