Im with pet plan and changed my boy from Group 1 to Group 3 (for the rearing and breaking) I got a quote online which came out at £27 pcm, then thought it would be easier to change existing policy and was told it will cost £30 pcm, she couldn't give a reason to the difference other than i must have something diffent on it (I know i don't) but said she will look into it if i email her the quote i got - have heard nothing back :(
So i ring NFU to get a quote and spoke to someone not very helpfull and then got cut off so still havn't got a quote from them.
Its just not going well :(

Keep at it!

Its unusual for NFU to be unhelpful! Are you phoning their local office to you? My local office is brilliant! Can't do enough for me really!

NFU are usually helpful, but I have found KBIS excellent.

Easy and straight forward to get the insurance and then when i had to claim and it was ongoing they paid up with no issues, they were helpful and made it really easy.

One time the vet was slow sending us back the forms kbis needed. So kbis sent the check before we had returned the forms. When we asked them about it they said that it was no issue and just asked us to send the forms when we got them so their paperwork was in order.

I've been advised again getting insurance for my horse. I was looking at getting insurance for theft, life and vet (hope thats the right phrasing, as have been looking for insurance in France). But have been advised against getting it by several people. What are the pros and cons, has it been worth it for all of you? Probably should have started a new post for this but will see how it goes, if get no response will start one!! Thanks

No i didn't call my local NFU office but will try them tomorrow, do the others (KBIS, SEIB and AmTrust) accept monthly payments or does it have to be upfront?

I have just upped my insurance with pet plan for exactly the same reason he is now being broken and schooled, the online quote was reasonable but I wanted to check some details over the phone with a "real" person I was quite shocked as when I asked again for the quote as I did not have my scrap of paper with the figure on it. And guess what it was actually £3 cheaper than the online quote.
All the details were the same for both quotes yet different rates and it was all done on the same day, anyway I took the phone quote straight away their loss my gain.

Mine was the other way round - online cheaper, i know its only £3 but it adds up and there shouldn't be a difference (there was no online or new customer discount so thats not the reason)
I suppose i could always cancel the policy and start a new one with the online quote but t seems silly when im already with them.
