Arrggh, mane falling out

Horse's mane is now being rubbed by his neck cover - arrgghh. He's clipped out so really wearing a neck cover is pretty vital. Any ideas on how to preserve the rest of his mane that do not involve buying a new turnout rug?????

Use a snuggy hood - but you MUST wash it at least weekly, if not more often as if they get dirty/greasy, then they pull the mane out themselves.

Doesnt always work either

I washed merlins weekly and it still pulled his mane out..... took it off in the end

I have mine in hood to try and prevent this but it dosen't seem to have worked

La La LA LA - Janette's got her fingers in her ears not listening - just splashed and bought one to stop Star's mane being rubbed out........

I bought two combo rugs last year and they took quite a bit of her mane out. Gone back to detachable necks and hey presto - not a problem

I'm not saying combo rugs doen't work but I think it depends on horses neck

Bit of a random one but do you have a neck on 24/7?? I found that my boys mane was coming out - not bald bits like it had been rubbed just falling out. I stopped putting him in a neck in the evening and hey presto it worked. I hadnt even thought that the neck might make the mane fall out!
