Had a chat with my vet on the phone about my stallion like gelding, and he said in no uncertain terms... Seperate him completely from all mares, Its unlikely but Starla could get pregnant if he persists in mounting her, and to feed him chase berry (sp?) as a supplement.
It is literally IMPOSSIBLE for me to seperate him from the mares, we dont have enough land, and it takes about a hundred quids worth of fencing to keep the little critter in. All I am able to do is fence off a field for him but he will be surrounded by mares on all sides...I dont know what to do

Can’t your vet do a test to see if he is fertile and then can’t he give him something to reduce his levels etc?

I would call your vet back and ask if there are any alternatives.

OK so the best thing is to fence him off in a small area of the paddock, although he will be surrounded by the mares at least he will not be able to get in with them

Can you block a bit of the field shelter off? I do feel for you as they are notorious for escaping, and not the easiest to contain!!

The Vet said Its pointless testing to see if he is fertile, He probably isn't as was gelded over a month ago, and if he is whats done is done. He advised i saved myself another vets bill, and seperate them now. Aparently, Brodie needs to break the habbit of mounting or else I'll have a nightmare shetland all the live long day...
I'll fence him off his own little field, and pray to the god of equi that he stays put...
Also feeding him this supplement should help with his agression to the geldings.
