I have just had a notification through the post for "failing to stop at a red light". I know exactly when it happened, I was towing my trailer with horse on board, approaching a set of traffic lights on a dual carriageway at approx 30mph, they had just turned green and because there wasn't much traffic about they changed back again quickly. I was too close to the lights to stop safely, I would have really had to slam the brakes on and upset my horse, and must have gone through as they just turned red. Now I'm going to get 3 points and a £60 fine! I'm sooooo mad about it!

Appeal.

You had livestock on board, it would have been unsafe for you to stop. If it has only just gone red and you are towing etc you are within your right to appeal against it. I know of somebody who did this in a lorry and they got away with it.

I recently did the new test that you should have for transporting horses, while doing it the instructor bloke told us he had got people off for this same thing.

I think if you make a point of causing stress to the horses i *think* you should be ok. This is apparently all that defra and the like are bothered about and want the best for the horses. The bloke told us lots of usefull things and the main thing is whats best for the horses.- slamming on for light wouldnt be best imo.

Id def appeal.
This is what always worries me. You cant travel at the national speed limit ie 30 in a 30 half the time because of traffic lights.
Drives me bonkers.
I had to pull up quick on sunday and Snoopy nearly ended up in the front with me all because, like you they changed to green then went back to red immediately! argh!
Very dangerous... but half the time they have these camera taking shots if you run the red light.

Thank you all. I think I will def appeal! The speed limit for the road was actually 50mph and I was going more like 30 approaching the traffic lights - just in case. Should have been going 50 then I'd have been OK!!

I will let you know how I get on!
