Arrrrggggggghhhhhh stupid horse!

Not sure if you remember my post about Blue not going up one end of the arena because he didn't want to go near the horse eating electric fence which was the other side of the arena fence? And how i spent 30mins walking in circles to try get him to go past it?

Well... he was fine for about a week or so, or maybe even 2 weeks but last night?

I was trying to bend him to the inside (so he couldn't see it) and leg yield him into the corner but i didn't get very far into the corner!

It was one of Amy's favourite tricks. Top of the school = scary.

No, Amy May, it just means you don't want to work.....

She was a little minx.

I used to go in to the school and work at that end deliberately - until she worked properly - then I would use the whole school.

An old livery yard of mine used to stack plastic bags of horse manure along the top short side of their arena. Of course my horse was scared of plastic bags, and although I could get him up that end, he would turn round and charge 100mph the other way bucking EVERY time! I could never do a decent schooling session with him. So I started lunging him up that end before I rode him to get used to them and some steam out of him lol. A pain in the wotsit but it worked!

I think i'd end up with a very odd shaped circle if i tried to lunge him in that corner!

Really annoyingly HE(Blue) is the reason the fence is there in the first place,
mad.gif
all because he is a bully and chased one of the others up the big pile of mud in that corner of the field and then it got stuck in the big pile of mud!
crazy.gif
So because of that incident said big pile of mud is now fenced off!

First time round i got off him and fetched a stick...
smirk.gif

This time round i nudged harder as i had rather long spurs on i didn't want to kick him.

Think i will remember to make sure i pick stick up next time i ride in the arena (don't usually school with a stick)!

I had the exact same problem with Axey when I was at my old yard, it was the top left corner which had some jumps stored there.
I tried everything, riding him there, lunging him there, I even posted on here about it too!
In the end I think I had just made too big a deal out of it, and made the problem worse.

I moved yards and the same top left corner had same jumps stored there and I just didn't make a fuss at all, I kept patting him and not forcing him to go there. He takes no notice of that bit now.

Its not the noise is it??? Merlin hates coming throught the gate way (leccy tape one) when its on coz it clicks!!! He also wont go past a sheep field without going sideways and snorting because its clicking!!
