I have Antonia Hardwick, Pippa Funnell, Pheobe Buckley, Sarah Bullen.....I know we are all in the same boat us amateurs but I sometimes think is it worth it!! Spider does a nice test (scored 29 last w,end) but my name isnt Pippa Funnel after all!!

Interesting to see one that Pippa has in it is called Billy Lazoreti must be a home bred like Billy Landretti, be interesting to see if it goes as well as Billy Landretti's form is pretty inpressive!

i know i wonder if BE could use a similar system to BD... I know its great to compete against the olympic riders but i mean they have such an advantage-riding about 20 horses a day and all and getting the top training etc. it is so hard to compete against that!
having said that ul prob beat them all now!!

but restricted and open sections would be good...

ps. i mean a system where they restrict the rider, i know they already have OI and ON and OPN but perhaps it is the rider that needs to be restricted. we all know WFP can win on most of his horses on the yard! doesnt seem to matter who he is on! I used to always get drawn behind Pippa in the dressage! so annoying!

No chance of that! I spose the PAVO's are good in that it is the jumping as well which cannot be judged it is what it is - but if you go through to the jumping phases with a 10point lead it does help!!

Its all experience though and worth a go!

I do think the young horse classes are the ones where it is most difficult to compete against the pros.

It is so difficult for an amateur (however competant) to produce horses as quickly as the pros. What takes Pippa about 2 weeks to achieve probably takes the best amateur 2 months.

Competing an amateur produced 5 year old against a professionally produced one is so difficult.

You will be fine!

I got drawn after Pippa in dressage the last show i was in against her. As long as you ride your test to the best of your ability then you cant ask of anything more from yourself. Gutting though isnt it

I think the best thing to do with these breeding classes is to go and use it as experience for your youngster, and the opportunity to have a judges opinion on them and their potential for that particular job ...rather than trying to get placed.

You can't really compete against the pros in these classes... but then if you do get a place you know you've probably got something pretty special, even if you are only an amatuer

Best of luck Holly.. Im sure Spider will impress !

Thanks for all the positive comments!

Us amateurs just have to go and give it our best shot and put it all down to experience!

no you think it is billy landretti in the 5 Yo section? and there is a spelling mistake? he would be 5 now too?

I doubt it is him...im sure she has another Billy youngster.

are there restrictions on these breeding classes (other than age) ?? As Billy Landretti has clocked up a good few points this season anyway.

Don't worry about that, just do what you are good at, riding your horses. It will be slightly intimidating but if you beat her or any other top rider you have to be very pleased with yourself.

I was at a BD competition there today and Daisy Dick was there with a couple of hers including Springalon. I got a better mark than she did in the novice class, we both got less than 60% so I came away with something positive!
