My uncle owns two black labs, one a 6 year old bitch and the other a 12 year old dog. Both fantastic dogs and gundogs (Older one has now been retired.)

The older dog has now developed arthirits in his back legs. I know labs do tend to suffer problems in later life with their back legs (hip dysplacia etc) but I'd like to know does anyone know of anything that could help ease his pain and make him less stiff?
He was on some form of a tablet a woman recommended to my aunt. Problem is they now can't remeber the name of it! This woman used the stuff on her horses and it showed fantastic results.
Any other suggestions greatly received as it is quite upsetting to watch at times.

A Bioflow (magnetic ) collar helps a lot of similar dogs; also Synequin (or its doggy counterpart) is very good too and seems to produce better results than things like Cortaflex; I think it's Polaris on here you swears by it for their dog.
 
He won't wear a collar, tries to scratch them off as he's never had to wear one before with being a gundog. Synequin? Is this a tablet? And how do you get it?

I have used it since our dog was 10 months old as he had OCD of the shoulder. It is very expensive but brilliant and you have to use it pretty constantly. You start with a loading dose then can reduce.
The web site has all the details and it's available in chewable and sprinkle forms. You might want to consider acupuncture too.

Im not sure if dogs usually have it, but horses and people can, so i dont se why not, but Apple Cider Vinegar is suppost to be very good for joints. Your can buy it from many places and it is quite cheap.
 
ConquerK9 chewables, they are fantastic! little chewy tabs, very beefy, dogs love them! i picked some up from Branham last month and dog goes mad for them and they work! got glucosamine chondroitin and HA which is a tried and tested combination and HA is just amazing, if you think you get alot out of glucosamine and chondroitin add the HA, its great.
