Arthritic horses in v out in wet weather

I have one horse with arthritic hock and one with arthritic hock and ringbone. They have no shelter in their paddock and it has been raining heavily over the past week. I'm weighing up bringing them in at night where they will have limited movement with them lying down in wet fields but able to walk round. What's your opinions ? They are both on bute
 
Without attempting to sound like a hippie, do they look happy in the field? if they are head down and miserable, I'd bring in, but it they look happy and are warm then I'd leave them be.
 
Are you thinking of just giving them a break from the cold and damp? If so, why not bring in for hay during the day and then turn out in the evening?
