My mare had her very swollen, arthritic hocks injected. She had tight bandages on for a week and they went completely down, the immediate results were amazing! She was sound and doing very well. Unfortunately because the arthritis was in the large joint, it didn't last and the swelling and lameness returned in a couple of weeks. The vet said had it been in a better place, it could have lasted a good 6 months or more and he gets very mixed results, some never need injections again. With steroids the results should be quick. Hope that helps !
Hock injections with Tb x3 .... 1st lasted about three months, 2nd one month, 3rd no effect. Went for fusion injections then, but she never came right so I retired her.
Hock injections with half shire X cob recently lasted five weeks. Now on tumeric and boswelia serrata and the odd bute if he has a face like a shovel. Also "back on track" hock boots and increased movement now so much better.. He will have pampering physio massage every three weeks this winter only when his movement reduces as he stands about around haynets. 24/7 turnout with warm rugs.
Minto had them in his hock. I think he has 2 about 2 weeks apart. He came sound and never needed another one. He then got arthritis in a front fetlock. Tried injections, I think we tried 3 but they never worked and he was semi retired to hacking 2 or 3 times a week on 1 danilon a day.
Both hocks injected with steroids then tildren. Both made very little difference. Horse was retired for 18month and turned away.
Barefoot rehab and been hacking 5 times a week sound and doing great
