I have been feeding my very old boy cod liver oil for arthritus for a fair while but I have to say I don't think it makes a great deal of difference and I've also been scared off it a bit by a few things I've read on here.
So have been thinking about trying him on something different like corn oil, linseed oil, soya oil etc but have no idea which would be best for arthritus or indeed how much to feed him.
He is 31 years old, 15.1hh ID x TB, not a fussy eater, and according to most recent weight tape reading is about 440kg (but I don't find the tape very accurate!)
Also worth mentioning he's generally doing great for his age, just a bit stiff so I just want to try what I can to make him more comfy. He's out 24 hours with field shelter at this time of year if he needs it, so gets plenty of moving around. He is also on bute and cortaflex for the arthritus (though cortaflex doesn't seem to be doing much and don't want to up the bute if I can avoid it).
Any advice on what to go for and how much I should give him much appreciated!
Thanks!!!
