Hi

Has anyone had experience of managing a horse with this condition?

Our 13 yr old cob has recently been diagnosed via a bone scan and 3 of his vertabrae are affected.

He has been prescibed tildren (3 treatments at 6 month intervals) and 2 months field rest, then 1 month long reining and physio followed by 2 months hacking if all is going well. He is also having synequin.

The long term prognosis is guarded as apparantly some return to work and others cannot tolerate a saddle on their backs.

I am interested in whether anyone is successfully managing this condition. We are trying to keep him turned out as much as possible and have been advised that he will need regular physio treatment.

Any other experiences (good or bad!) would be gratefully recieved.

Thanks

Thanks anyway.

We are really gutted as he was supposed to be my horse to get out and about on.

Just shows that you never know with horses as we know both his previous owners (since he was 4 yrs old). He has always been well cared for and never lame and also passed a 5 stage vetting last year. Apparantly it is a condition that is not related to any previous work.

Keeping my fingers crossed!

Tegan
