This one from Tuesday :D (with D1 on, I had already ridden and wanted to see the transformation from the ground :D)

Dizzy-2-01-June-1-1.jpg

This one also from Tuesday - I know, horribly overbent (we're not yet perfect lol), but you can see that her bum is starting to get some shape to it (finally!)

I think it's quite funny how D2 managed to get two pictures (out of the four she took), on the same canter leg/position :)

Thankies for nice words :) She is indeed rather gorgeous :D :D (not that I'm at all biased!). And thank you for the good luck for tomorrow. I'm not at all nervous, honest! :D

what's happening tomorrow?:confused::)
ok maybe i'm being dim but on that bit is there holes on top and bottom of rings?? what are they for? do you put cheek piece through them etc?:rolleyes:

Oh blast, sorry, wrong piccy! The mouthpiece looks like that, but it's not a gag that Dizz has. Yes, with the one in the picture you put a gag strap through the holes, round the poll and back down the other side, then reins on the ends - sorry to be so confusing!

Oh, missed the other part - tomorrow will be the second time of riding the Dizz with the new noseband and different bit in..., am hoping so much that the change in her way of going is a permanent thing... :D

ahh I see:)
not sure what to do with C she used to wear a fulmer jointed snaffle with rubber on and didnt have any issue with it  i'm clutching at straws:rolleyes:

She does alot of head tossing and sometimes we get the 'ear issue' when she puts one ear further back than other one and starts shaking head all time:rolleyes:
Had Mctimmoney out and she said could be because using all wrong muscles as never used to do it when younger, so that is her way of avoiding the hard work:rolleyes:
But people also keep saying she doesnt look happy with bit  but i'm not sure I think it's due to not wanting to use weaker muscles:(
Have got a pessoa recently to try build right ones up and think prob best to continue with pessoa then try and analize some more later.
So easy though to keep buying different bits to try but starts to get exspensive :D

Ah! Dizz was doing the head thing, and rubbing her right nostril any chance she got :(. It had reached the point on Monday where it was getting dangerous (cantering downhill down the road, bouncing to the point of me almost losing my teeth, etc.).

She was in a Myler. Thanks to the advice on here, I think it was the copper strips in the bit :(. Tried a Pelham, a Waterford, a barrel-link two ring gag (on the mildest setting). Have gone back to the HM mullen that she came in...

VS - ta hun :D

Why is her head carriage so low, she looks like she is doing the Rolkur. Is she strapped down like that for some reason - poor pony!

Strapped down where? How? That's just how she carries her head! We're always trying to get it up, but she likes to put it there. As I got her just after she had been backed and as I think Rolkur is evil incarnate, there is not a cat in hells chance that she would ever be strapped down to a false head carriage

Anything you've ever read on here about Dizzy cannot possibly cause anyone to think 'poor pony'!!!

She is a bit deep but many horses go this way through their choice. You can work on this and get her a little more up and out but this takes time. My horse was the same. He would always want to go overbent- he would put himself there:

And this is him now after lots of work to get him to work over his back and to a contact rather than behind it:

So it can be done.
I rode him like this :

For about 6 months!

She looks lovely. Ignore the horrible post, its funny how there is a post running at the moment saying how people are so quick to criticize dressage and label something as "rolkur" when they don't even understand what it is.

Charlie's picture are a prime example of how riding with your seat and legs, rather than the hand bring the horse 'up'.

Youve been a member long enough to know some of the background to this horse. But maybe you dont, in which case your post *may* be forgiven.

However, in case you are having a dig i will explain what i think the issue is. The horse is weak behind and has recently had issues with its mouth. Both mean that she will not be going forward sufficiently and hence goes overbent. As with any horse she is a work in progress, which is acknowledged by mrs m and actually the horse gets a lot of help and support from her owner, unlike many on here. now i wouldnt know mrs m if she walked in here right now but i do know that she does everything for her horse that she can, from the posts on here. The horse isnt a 'poor pony' at all. she has issues, yes but mrs m is trying everything to help the horse and progress. something which actually every owner should do instead of saying 'shes taking the p!$$' like many do and actually ignoring the issues and creating more.

As for being strapped down then i think your eyesight is playing up because i cant see any strapping down.

You've managed to post two horrendously timed photos of the poor thing- very few horses look attratcive at that moment in canter!
She does look pretty overbent but it's something that takes time to fix

Given that she has a pelvis issue, she is young, has been in and out of work due to various injuries (hers and mine), she's not doing too bad. It's very hard to get her to work from behind - I wasn't allowed to ask anything of her last year, in fact the aim was to see if she would go lame to allow for further investigative work to be carried out. They were the only pictures I had of her from that morning, and they were posted just to show that she was working and to show that she has a bit more meat and muscle on her and because I was so chuffed, as my posts on here will attest to. As to timings of pictures, a twelve year old taking pics on an iPhone is always going to be a bit suspect (though she does do rather well when using her proper camera).

Charlie - I look forward to the day Dizz looks/goes like that! Everything is crossed because at the moment we still don't know if she will be a 'goer' or a field ornament. I dream that one day it will call come together :)

Well i think she looks very pretty and shiny :D What shampoo do you use on her? Could do with my hair looking like that! ;)

Looking forward to more updates and more pics :D

Freddy naturally carries himself tight and behind the vertical as well!! It takes time and patience to teach a horse like that to ride with a long neck! The horse needs to change from what it finds naturally comfortable and develop the right muscles to carry itself through the back properly.
