I had a Fresian filly here to break in and wormed her on arrival. She produced these (and others) 24 hours later. This is the second time Ive seen worms in many many years of worming. I never immagined that they would be so big and solid :O They are now in a jar floating in some formaldehyde. The filly is now shiney and her ribs are covered. :)

Poor girl, bet she's glad they are out.
I hate seeing worms, ESP in cats for some reason
Yuck

Glad I finished my tea before opening up the thread though, reading HHO is not for reading while you eating!!!

Goodness, this post has taken me back a few years! I remember as a young child fascinated by the jars on the shelves filled with nasties at my riding school.

How's the darling mule colt?:)

A fairly rare sight for most of us I think

Had a pony here in transit once and when I took the tail bandage off one of those was clinging onto it. It was wormed before travelling on again!

My Highland I bought many many years ago had been with travellers and on worming him there were masses of redworm in the poo, never seen anything like it since!

Nice pictures! My rescue was full of these too. Thank goodness that mostly they are treated by a one of worming and the horse will never get them again, unlike redworm. Foals and youngsters are the most likely hosts.
Thanks for posting.

yuk, they are whoppers. My new horse had a very heavy redworm burden, and you could see them easily when I wormed her, but nothing like that - I didn't realise they got so big.

My 4 month old weanling came with a HEAVY dose of these. And I mean heavy. I wormed him a week after I got him with a sachet of Strongid-P and out they came. He poo'ed them solidly for 2 days. I'm never eating spagetti again :(. Anyway, Strongid-P was fine for him and did the job nicely. He is fine now :)
