hi guys, has anyone ever brought a horse through these sales? I'm thinking of going to the december one, looking for a horse to p2p on and maybe do some eventing afterwards. Hav'nt got my catalogue yet, so will prob hav a better idea then!

Friend has bought a few - not been to December one though. Catalogue is usually online.

l have bought several from ascot BUT you do have to be carefull this time of year l reckon anything thats had leg problems has been chucked out in the field for the summer until leg gone down enough to take to sales!??! But all the ones l have bought have been stars!!

I have a bought a few from Ascot. You just have to be very thorough in your assessment and be prepared to come home empty handed if there isn't one to meet your requirements. I've bought some crackers there but having been born into a racing family hopefully know what to look for. have also bought a nutcase from there!

My friend bought a PTP horse from there. She was well bred and related to a winner. But......when racing the b----y thing wouldn't start!

Just remember that they're at Ascot for a reason.. usually the runts of the yard with all sorts of problem.. from health to temprement..

Also an Indian King who has won several Hunter Chases.

I guess its all alot of the Welsh can afford pointing wise but they seem to get some winners from them.

I bought a horse, Jimmy, from a friend who has point-to-pointers. Jimmy came from Ascot sales and is incredibly well bred........however, he was such a useless racehorse that his form read "ppppp" ! Never got past two miles! However, he is the most wonderful hack and, hopefully is going to be a passable eventer (fingers crossed!). He is SO laid back, it's hard to imagine him actually racing, but I have watched him, and can confirm just how crap he was (but at least he never fell!).

my lad went through Ascot Nov sales - the woman who I bought him from bought him there for £400, and sold him to me for quite a bit more!!. He wasnt a racing reject at all - just unlucky and when we contacted his old owners and trainer they wanted him back!

There will be the odd nice one there - you just need to know what to look for.
