I think it is deffinately time to make the move up to novice again!!!

Okay got there in plenty of time, tacked up and went to warm up for dressage- but I had given myself too much time, and she went really really beautifully untill I stopped for a breather- I just couldn't get her going as well as before, and went in to do a pretty average test. Was gutted to only get 37, which put me smack bang in the middle

Judge was really harsh too with his comments- had a cheeky look through other peoples tests when I picked up my own and some comments included, "SIT UP!!!" (yes, in capital letters)- I think I got off quite likely to get a 7 for my riding- people got 5s which is unusual for BE!

Walked the course for the xc and was dissapointed- it was too simple and hardly up to height. Didn't want to get cocky though, as saw a fair few people come unstuck at the corner and the first jump (a flower bed with white writing on it!).

Onto the showjumping- I wasn't feeling very confident as our showjumping really is our weakest phase
frown.gif
Not many people went clear either, and dad said a clear round would get me right up at the top of the leaderboard (judge hadn't used full range of marks, so all scores were about 10 marks within each other!). So no pressure then! Got over the first 3 nicely, off the fence to number 4 and a related dog-leg to a gate at number 5- I totally cocked it up and had it down
frown.gif
Gutted, but she couldn't have cleared it from where I placed her so my fault not hers. Finished on 4faults.

Onto the xc- I was unbelievably excited
grin.gif
Dad reported back that noone had gone clear inside the time, so I got my competitive head on, and off we shot

grin.gif
She flew round, made it feel sooooo easy, no sticky moments at all
smile.gif

So got back clear and thought I had gone pretty fast- dad had timed me and got me as 4m10 (optimum was about 4:26 I think!)! Found out I was actually 4.09, so no time pens and fastest time of the day

I think we need to move up now, she wasn't out of control at all and I still set her up for the fences- she wasn't even blowing/sweating when we got back!!!

So no time pens moved me up to 7th- had I not had the fence down I would have come 4th
frown.gif

But another top 10 finish isn't bad- best part is, the course is where my PC area comps are in 2 weeks, so i am feeling very confident now

Onto Cheltenham BE100 on Tuesday- my last BE100 *touch wood*

Some pics, thanks to daddy

well done! looking great in the photos

pretty close to have another event on the tuesday?
smile.gif

Dont get too cocky for the areas though, mine are in 2 weeks as well
smile.gif

are you doing open or intermediate? just because if you do a novice before the areas you HAVE to do open and you may actually be seriously competitive for intermediate
wink.gif

I love the concentration in your face in all the photos
grin.gif

Welldone for today/yesterday and good luck for your next two events
laugh.gif

wasnt meant to be a slag! all i meant was, dont get too cocky for areas as it could all go tits up
tongue.gif
trust me, i learnt from experience
blush.gif
tongue.gif

ah, have been away, so didnt know you already had done a novice
smile.gif

Well done!!!

And Only_me the area will be run over the pn course with a few extra jumps (they dont have a novice) so better than doing intro/intermediate!!
smile.gif
(well it was last year anyway!!)

Good luck with area, I remember the showjumping as being pretty upto height (maybe to make up for the xc?!) and a few accuracy questions thrown in on the xc (im not sure how different to normal pn as have never ridden it at a be event).

Good luck with chelts and area - wish i was doing chelts now we have had all this rain - typical!!

Hi- Saw you at the first Eeland lodge beginning of the season i think? watched your showjumping
smile.gif
i dont post often so you would of had no idea who i am.

Just want to say how happy i am to not be the only one to dislocate their chin when concentrating especially in the XC
blush.gif
tongue.gif
although you dont look half as bad as i do !

Well done and good luck in the areas

Well done great to here that your ready to go back up to novice

our area is the complete opposite and didnt think the BE Novice course was difficult enough to challenge people so got some jumps made specially for the event (stupid arrowhead barrell thing) the result was only 2 teams completed (i think only one had 3riders without xc faults) i was so glad/annoyed to miss last year

is it because you area is small or not many open riders?
Im sure you'll be fine if you keep up your top ten form
smile.gif

Thanks everyone!

The areas are indeed run over a level lower- the intermediate is ran over the BE90 course, the open over the BE100 report. However, they do add a lot more island fences/skinnies/larger portable jumps to beef it up a bit
smile.gif

I did the intermediate last year on my old horse (so the BE90 course mostly) and I was suprised at the amount of problems it actually caused!

I don't know how many open teams there will be- I am hoping not many

Goodness our areas were run over the novice course plus some extra jump.
the shock that some people who have easier courses must get when they get to the champs!

You are looking fab best of luck for areas I'm sure you'll do great and well done!

Nope not a small area - crown farm is area 9 - which contains vwh etc - so prob one of the hardest areas given that vwh always win the overall champs.

our areas are run over the novice/intermediate xc course
shocked.gif
well, the open anyways
shocked.gif

The intermediates are a mixture of PN and Novice fences, the Novice are PN and Intro fences!

understand now then!
