After the recent thefts around telford shropshire me and my friends have been a bit phobic on our security, we have heard about thieves hanging bags on fences and markings outside gates as markers to indicate possible horses to steal. Tonight a friend as found a pile of ash outside her gate now this could be entirely innocent but as anyone heard of this as a marker to thieves?

Yes it is scary but not heard of ash so don,t know what to think i,ve told friend to keep popping back at different times but she said she was going to camp there as she saw two strange men looking over her gate two weeks ago. Luckily the house next door keeps an eye on them for her its just a bit queer about it being ash where did they get it from and why dump it there at the side of a busy road if it was not the horse thieves??

Unfortunately this is her only field i would offer her one of my fields to use but i have moved all mine away from the area because next door field had the coloured filly stolen a few weeks ago. And we also found bread bags tied to our gates like the fillys field did the night it was stolen thank god my coloured cob is at stud and will never go back there while there is a chance she could be taken this is why i,m over the top now with security .

Where my 2 are kept,it would be very hard for them to be taken.as theres houses all the way up the lane,2 at the bottom of the field and then theres a row of houses further up. Looking onto the field.Someone would see them BUT you never know. I dont blame you being suspicious.Im paranoid. You just dont know whose prowling around.
Im getting my horse Freeze marked ASAP.

Did they ever find the filly?

No but i heard they had lots of tip off,s but they came to nothing. I have just seen friend going back to field this morning i think she had stayed at field most of the night and came home in the early hours. I,m actually having mine freezemarked next week as added protection.

Ihave not met him personally but a few friends have and tell me that he is very upset and he has moved his other horses away and given the field up . So with my friends and mine gone too the area looks like a ghost town .We shall not move back until freezemarking as been done and extra security put in place.

houses are behind the field but woodland and bridlepath on three sides thats why we liked it no road riding straight away also loverly views whilst riding. Think we are losing this field next may if the developers have their way now the resession is slowing down so wont be a worry for long. But we have to keep it on so the land manager will find us somewhere new when its built on. She did find us somewhere else when the filly went but to be honest it was in a very isolated place .
