Who is going to the sales? What are you interested in?
There are quite a few I like the sound of at the moment!
Also, as I can't find it on the website, does anyone know if the buyer has to pay commission on a purchase or if the price bid in the ring is the full sale price?
(I know some sales the seller pays it and some the buyer has extra added on?)

Thanks :D

Hi there, buyers pay a percentage on top of hammer down price plus vat if the seller is vat registered, auctioneer will state before sale of horse starts. Also sellers pay a commission percentage on the hammer price so they dont take home what the horse is sold for when hammer goes down, if you go into the auctioneers web pages on buying and selling they will give a rundown of their fees. Sellers also have to pay an entry fee on top of the above, so selling at auction isnt great as your cost could be greater than advertising privately and there is also the transportation of animals aswell to take into account.
Have been to a few brightwell sales recently to look, there has been a lot of nice animals going through, sadly people dont have the money to keep at the moment.

I can't go to the sales anymore, it makes me too sad. Now I have my own place, I just can't go, as I know i'd end up with a lorry load of pitiful creatures :(

I havent been since I bought Samba there last june, at the time they took commission and buyers premiums away from the horse sales, only on tack etc.

The price when the hammer goes down is the price you pay.
Be careful what you buy though there. I have known a horse with strangles go through and quite a few dodgy things go through that market (prob samba included but I did want a project). If your looking for a nice section A/B or a shettie there are bargins to be had. The website will be under Hobbs and Parker.
