I know there are often threads about should I or shouldnt I with regard to riding on stubbles etc but I just thought Id mention that in the last couple of months I have asked 2 of my local landowners/farmers for their permission to park my horsebox somewhere around their buildings so that I can hack straight from the box on to bridleways and avoid our horrid roads. In both cases I explained who I was, where I kept my horse and why I wanted to do it, I also offered some sort of payment annually. Both said yes without hesitation, 1 even gave me the code to open the gate which is sometimes locked so that I never get locked in! Both refused payment (I suspect they may find a bottle of something in their Xmas stockings). Im so glad I asked, I now have access to some fab bridleways without having to do any roadwork. Definitely worth asking in the right way, you may be very pleasantly surprised how nice some people can be
