Now the wet, muddy ground is here i fancy a trip to Aspley woods... i've been there once a long time ago and the ground was lovely and sandy so am hoping it fairs well in this weather!

Does anyone know where the car park is (the maps i've found on the internet aren't great) and get you get a day pass? I can see they do and annual one for £30 but thats Jan - Dec 2014 and as we are nearly at the end of the year i'd rather not have to get that!

I have seen other people mention it on facebook. just seen this online: give them a call maybe?

If its only 4-5 miles not worth travelling far but expect its longer than that.

The car park is on Longslade Lane off the A5130 between Woburn and Woburn Sands, plenty of room to manoeuvre and usually other lorries and trailers there. Although you are supposed to get a permit, and I used to have one, I was never challenged by the rangers and liveried right nearby for a long while so rode there almost daily. The permits are cheap but you have to upgrade your public liability insurance which may cost you.

The riding is endless! Either side of the A5130 as well as all around the woods, there are also public bridle ways and lanes to ride on all of which are quiet and safe. The tracks are used by mountain bikers, so that's the only slight worry. At weekends it's busier with walkers and dogs. The ground is sandy and there are numerous long canter tracks.

Go for it!

The two times I've been there I've seen a ranger! I would wait till jab and get a permit

Or you can get one for rushmere in Heath and reach as they run from when you buy them for 12 months and then in jab get one for apsley.

The riding is really nice and there is a central sandy track you can have a good canter up. We did this with all the wet weather beging of the year when all our local, tracks were bogs
